Apple II+ PAL -> NTSC mod issues

Hi all,

Since my Apple II+ is modded for the PAL region and I don't have a PAL encoder card, it can't display color. So I decided to restore it to NTSC, but the result is not so successful.

As you can see in the video, the display is far too bright and unstable, with visible vertical bars. It is mainly in text mode that the image flickers, in color mode it is slightly more stable (but still too bright with visible bars).

GS/OS 6.0.1 Locks Up loading

I have a ROM 01 GS. I did have an old 5MB SCSI drive on this computer, but that drive died. Instead of replacing with another SCSI drive I've removed the SCSI controller card and replaceed it with a ReactiveMicro compact flash/IDE card installed in slot 7. The only other expansion card in my GS is a 4MB RAM card in the auxiliary slot.

Anyone have success making backup of Avalon Hill games?

I was finally able to get a a working version of Avalon Hill's Tournament Golf. The game works great.  I have not played this game in 30 years. I am trying to make a backup copy with Copy II+ 9.1  on my Apple IIgs and am having no luck. I have tried the 5.25 BIT copy with the Auto Copy selection and TRY AVALON HILL, TRY STANDARD, TRY  STANDARD (ALT. 1), TRY SUNBURST, TRY SYNC, TRY SYNC (ALT. 1)  and all have failed to make a scuccessful copy. Has anyone had any success making a backup copy of any Avalon Hill games?

Trouble Running ProTerm 3.1 on Apple IIe Enhanced

Hi,

I recently got a WiModem232, and have been very excited to use it with my IIe Ehanced (It was a regular IIe that has been upgraded using the ReActiveMicro IIe Enhancement kit).  I have been hearing a lot about ProTerm v3.1, and it seems to be the go-to terminal program for the IIe, and one that many users of the WiModem232 have had good success with.  However, I have not been able to get ProTerm to run on my machine.

Apple 2+ No power problem just warm chips

I have been working on an old Apple 2 plus, got a new power supply and it’s all hooked up. I was trying to test the monitor with computer but no luck and the motherboard was warm, most of the ram seemed warm as well as some rom chips I can get thermal pictures/temperature if needed. Has anyone else had this issue? Is there any way I can fix it? I will try a different monitor but expect the same results.

Thanks in advance.

Apple II+ power issue (not supply) --> Hot chips

Hi All:

I am still troubleshooting an Apple II+ that appears to work fine w/o periphreal cards but gets wonky video when cards are in and no life in the cards.

I started doing some simple non-invasive assessments.  I discovered I have 2 chips that are getting significantly hot compared to all other chips, one is Apple ROM E0, the other is an SN74S195N.

Two questions:

1) Is this normal for these chips?

2) I have heard about DIY ROM replacements by burning your own on an EPROM.  Anyone done this and had success?

Thanks

Apple IIe Color Monitor issues

Some time ago, I acquired six Apple color monitors of the AppleColor Composite Monitor IIe and Color Monitor IIe varieties.

Of them, two work well, two have completely desaturated images, and two have failed motherboards (one trips the circuit breaker when it's turned on, the other just shuts off shortly after turning it on).

In any case, I'm hunting for resources to take a shot at repairing these.  Are there any available schematics?  I'm not having any luck finding anything...

Apple IIe spacebar

Could someone walk me through the steps of putting a spacebar on a IIe? I am confused as to the metal bar, do you thread it through the holes in the black tabs in the space bar first, then try to put the spacebar in (seems too easy to drop the metal bar into the case, difficult to snap it in place), or do you snap the metal bar into the keyboard then try to thread it through the holes in the black tabs (can't see anything)?

Applesoft ROM Card vs. Apple Language Card

I am resurrecting my Apple II (A2S1-9214) from late 1978.  I used it extensively and cut my code writing teeth on it in the early 1980s, but it has been dormant since then.

It Boots into Monitor; Ctrl-G gives me Integer Basic (I replaced the F0 ROM); C600G starts the 3.3 System disk.  I can load and run Integer programs from there. The problem is the Applesoft (FP) ROM card has gone dead.  I pulled all the chips; deox'd them; seated everything; and all I get upon boot is a totally blank white screen and a hung system.

Apple 2 Plus Power Supply Clicking [HELP]

I have been reading for some time now about why this happens. I have found no resistors that could be suspect. I have replaced the capacitor with the one they have suggested. When I power it on without any load it makes a chirping noise. IS there a way to fix this? I can send Pictures if needed. I found the old apple and wanted to fix it but the powersupply went boom and smoked when I tried to power it up. I replaced the RIFA cap that exploded. I ahve a AA11040B model powersupply. I attempted to measure the power supply voltages but they were way off!
