Clones worthy of salvation

I'm a bit of an oddball with Apple stuff in that I find clones and the like to be just as interesting sometimes as the original deal. I particularly like stories like this:

That remind me of my own tinkering back in the day. I've rescued a few, including a Linden Series One and a Franklin Ace 1200 -- I'm wondering if there are other 'interesting' machines or kits out there anyone can recall that are noteworthy and worth saving/collecting?

Apple II with odd motherboard

Hi guys,

Where to get AppleWorks 5.0

On asimov.net, there are two versions:

-- A 6-disk version from Beagle Brothers. Disk 1 of this won't even boot.

-- An 11-disk installer from Quality Computers. Upon booting the first disk and electing to install AppleWorks, you're asked to insert the "AppleWorks Program Disk". None of the 10 remaining disks will suffice. Even copying all the files from all 11 disks to a volume on the CFFA3000 doesn't work.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Viewmaster question

I'm having trouble getting the vertical deflection adjusted on my monitor when working in 80 column mode with a Viewmaster 80 (installed in a II+, slot 3). The top and bottom text lines extend beyond the physical screen dimensions. There are also faint vertical lines in 40 column mode. Otherwise, the card seems to work.

Apple II Europlus Video fault

I am restoring an apple ii europlus and was getting quite far until the video output totally failed. I have started some initial chip swapping but I was hoping that someone could advise on where to troubleshoot further.

Best Method for Connecting Marinetti to the Internet

Hello, everyone:

A week ago, I finally received a CFFA3000, which has made transferring and running programs on my IIGS much easier. Now that the lack of mass storage is not an issue, I have decided install Marinetti, in order to connect my IIGS to the internet. I know that Marinetti is compatible with Ethernet, but Apple II Ethernet cards are not very common. I also do not have access to dial-up internet, so a dial-up modem is not an option. Therefore, I feel that the best solution would be to connect to the internet through the IIGS serial port.

CFFA3000 and AppleWorks

Is is possible to use AppleWorks to save a file to a CFFA3000 virtual disk? I have the AppleWorks disks in emulated Drive 1 and a blank disk in emulated Drive 2. DOS and ProDOS can read and write the emulated disk just fine, but AppleWorks says "Can't write to disk" when I try to save something to it.

If I try to format the emulated disk 2 from inside AppleWorks, it says there's a problem with the drive speed.

Any ideas?
