Apple II

Weird video problem I can't diagnose, and a mystery daughterboard at the scene of the crime...need help!

So, i'm in the middle of restoring a recent eBay purchase, a very low serial number Bell & Howell Apple II. The unit is remarkably unscathed after 43 years, with a case in near perfect condition. The hardware inside is all Apple-manufactured.  There's just one problem. The video is out of sync..and I dont know enough about how video works to fix it, or even explain what's going on.

Free to a good home

I have an Apple 2e platinum to give away.  It has a working disk drive, color monitor.  Also with this a kraft joystick and apple paddles.  All tested and working.  I live in Indianapolis, and am not interested in shipping all of this, so for local pickup only.  Manuals, disks and books go with it.  Please text me at 317 796-9458, or it goes to Goodwill.  Thanks for reading.

Chris

P.S.  I will post when it is claimed.

Cannot format disk w/ Apple IIc & ADTPro: I/O ERROR

Hi folks,

I'm new to the forum. My neighbor found an old Apple IIc in his storage unit and I thought it would be super fun to restore it and write some 6502 assembly/C programs for it.

So far, I can boot and run AppleSoft BASIC, and I can play Oregon Trail from a disk I bought off eBay, no problems.

655-0101 Disk Controller Card

Hello group,

a friend gave me a 655-0101 5.25” controller card to play with because someone ripped the ribbon cable off. All that’s left are the 20 posts coming up out of the board. I have a DB19 and ribbon cable to make up that end but would anyone have any suggestions for attaching it to the card? I could solder each wire directly to the board itself but I’m looking for something a little more sturdy than that. Be great if someone had a cable they’d want to sell but until then I’d like to come up with something.

Any suggestions are appreciated

Randy

Apple //e screw specs?

I recently picked up a //e and while bringing it back to life I discovered this system has had a bit of work done by someone with really bad skills. One of the keyboard switches was replaced, but looks like the orignal was removed with a hammer and chisel!

While disassembling I discovered there are several missing screws and I'm now trying to find a source for the following parts:

1) 3 u-clip nuts for the bottom plate/case mating

Apple Pascal - Switch between 40/80 columns?

I'm reading through a Pascal adventure game programming book. All the programs are formatted for 40-columns, and I find the 80 column text to be difficult to read on my monitor. Is there a way to switch between 40 and 80 columns in Apple Pascal, either programmatically or preferably through a keypress or menu setting? I can't readily find any reference to this in the manuals.

(If it matters, my copy of Apple Pascal boots into 80 columns, and I've installed the 128k files which take advantage of the RAM expansion.)

Help with unknown California Computer Systems Serial Card

All,

I have a CCS Serial Card but it is not the 7710 and I am having a hard time finding any information on it.

As far as I can tell there is no model number,  on the back all it says is (c)CCS1983, circuit side, made in USA.

Any help would be appreciated, I would love to set one of //e's up as a serial terminal or use it with ADTPro for file transfer.

Hi all!

I'm deep into a repair + restoration project on an Apple IIe, and while I'm making great progress, I've run into a problem:
