Yet another FloppyEmu enclosure: 3D printing approach

Sorry for creating another "Custom FloppyEmu Enclosure" thread. I didn't want to hijack the original thread. If you're looking for Dave's original thread on his perfectly original Disk II enclosure conversion, look here.

I did use his wonderful idea, but followed a slightly different approach. This going to be a lengthy posting – I hope you don’t mind. I’ll split it into several posts, so you can skip along…

Apple IIgs Desktop Color

Got my IIgs all tricked out with 3½ and 5¼ floppies, two 20-MB partitions on a CMS SCSI Drive; everything works great.  Finished it off with an A2M6014 RGB Monitor.  Sharp!  No color fringes!  Only problem is... No matter what I set the desktop color in the Control Panel, the desktop is gray.  The DOS screens will be the designated desktop color, but the Desktop.Sys16 is always gray.  Even if I select "Standard" (medium blue/medium blue) in Control Panel, desktop is gray; DOS screens are medium blue, but desktop is gray.

I have a couple keyboard-related questions about my Apple IIe

I'm deep into a restoration of a really nice Apple IIe. The machine came to me in semi-rough state, with a failed power supply, lots of dirt and grime, and just generally suffering from decades of neglect. Last week I recapped the PSU (my first-ever recap job!), which seems to have immediately resolved various functional / stability problems I was seeing with the machine, so that feels great.

Dumping Vulcan GALs...HELP!

HELP!!!I'm really hoping for help from someone with a Vulcan card. After some testing my newly acquired Vulcan card seems to have one of the GAL/PAL chips with an internal short.I have had a good look and can't find anyone who had dumped the contents of these chips unfortunately. Is there someone here with a Vulcan card who would be willing to dump, or get their card into the hands of a friend who can dump the contents of these GAL16V8A chips. It would be of great help to me, and a great service for the community too :-) Philip(waiting patiently with fingers crossed)

Astec GS Y type Safety Cap

Could someone send me a link of where I can find the "Y" type .01uf 250V safety cap on the GS Astec 13581 power supply? I can't seem to find anything anywhere.

Thanks

IIgs ROM3 GSOS corruption

Hi I finally set up the IIgs Rom3 machine that I bought a while ago.  I've replaced the PSU with ReactiveMicro's one.

I installed CFFA3000, UthernetII and 8MB memory card and installed fresh copy of GSOS 6.0.4.  But soon I noticed that I would see corruption, in the form of garbage in window icon view (attached screenshot) and icons and file type going missing in list view (or even displaying some corrupt characters in list view - not in the attached photo though).

IIgs Diag Failing a Working Mouse

I was working on repairing a CRT for my IIgs today, and was using the video patterns on the diagnostic disk. Once I was satisfied with the monitor, I figured why not run the whole suite of tests for grins.

Everything passed, except the ADB mouse test. It just says it failed and to refer to the service procedures.  Except if I boot up GSOS, the mouse works perfectly fine. The keyboard passes it's test no problem.

Does anyone by chance know what exactly it's trying to test? And more importantly, why it's failing a mouse that is infact working?

IIc ROM Upgrade - why not?

Curious to hear folks' opinions on why to stick with ROM 255... the only reason I can think of is 'originality'... but I'm loving the functionality that the 4X gives. So conflicted...

Mitac AD-1 (Disk II clone)

I assume this thing isn't rare and valuable or anything?  I plan to use the enclosure with the Disk II Floppy Emu faceplate kit, but I figured I ought to ask around before I gut it.

It uses a Sugart 390 mechanism.  Slightly different than what is in my real Disk IIs, but looks to be electrically the same.  Analog board appears to be a clone of the Apple one.  Case has different vent slot placement, but otherwise appears identical to Disk II.
