ZipChipGS...

Hi everyone;

According to this article there is a "ZipChipGS":

So is this thing real or vaporware? I’ve never ever seen a picture of one in the last 20 years that I’ve searched!

Mysterious IIgs Switch

I won this machine last night from the Goodwill auction site. Any idea what this switch is for? Unfortunately, I only have this photo from the listing until I go pick the machine up - probably later today.

Also there is a pic of the serial #. With what I think is a copyright date of 1989, I am hoping this a ROM 3 machine but I wanted to check the serial # to be sure. I have a feeling someone here knows how to decipher it.

Thanks.

DOS in ROM - impossible?

I'm sure there's a very simple technical explanation why it can't be done, but I've not found it yet.

Apple II Raspberry Pi Case

I saw this today:

Not cheap. Note that it is not the same size as the original.
There is also a Disk II styled USB SD card reader.

CF on a Vulcan

There has been a bit of discussion on some sites about using a compact flash with an ide adapter to connect to a Vulcan hard drive controller. While looking through some stuff, I discovered I had a 16mb CF. Connected it via adapter to a IIgs Vulcan controller. Formatted alright with the AE Partition Manager and showed up on the IIgs desktop. So I copied the hard drive over and proceeded to boot off the Vulcan controller.

My first Apple ///

Evening all (at least evening where I am!)

Decided to dip into the Apple III arena and picked one up today. The machine is in desperate need of a cleaning, but everything works. Comes w/a PKASO printer card and Corvus Interface card w/cable.

][+ working disk controller, does not load disks

After SpeedyG's excellent advice about my keyboard troubles, my ][+ can now be semi-used.

However, it's revealed a new problem : it can't read disks!

I have tried 2 working Disk II controllers in this II, with known working drives.

It powers them up and makes the usual clacking sound, but does not make any disk reading sounds.

These drives work perfectly in my other machine.

I tried the controller card in various slots, it doesn't work in any of them.
