Worth it to fix broken DVD drive in PBG4 TiBook?

I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of my MacBook Pro, which means my much-abused TiBook is going up for sale.

It has a broken DVD drive, and I was wondering if the resale value would be negatively affected by this to the point of making it worth it to pay to fix it before selling it. Any thoughts from experienced sellers?

my two cents

I would say to repair it. They are cheap enough, depending where u get them. You can do it yourcelf, instructions at pbfixit.com.

EDIT: And yes, the resale value will be very much affected with a bad dvd drive.

Combo or SuperDrive?

Here's a followup question:

I can get a Combo drive for $70 or a SuperDrive for $115. Would a SuperDrive increase the value enough to warrant spending the extra $45 on it?

This is just my opinion, but

This is just my opinion, but I think that it would be worth it. Just out of curiosity, how much would u want for it without replacing the dvd drive? Also just how bad is bad shape?

I have to disagree. While rep

I have to disagree. While replacing the drive will no doubt make it sell for more I'm not sure if you'll recoup all that you spent on the drive above and beyond the price you would get otherwise.

With the decrease in price of externals and how cheap they have become I don't think it would be too much of a problem for someone who has been around computers for a while (which I would guess would be the more likely buyer of a Ti). Although if your going to sell to a student or someone who totally needs the portability it would probably make that extra difference..
