Editing OS X Kernel Extensions

I am trying to get my external HP 8200e USB CD writer to work in OS X. I have found the manufacture of the USB bridge which is Shuttle Technologies which is now SCM Microsystems. The bridge it self is a USBAT-02. From what I have read in the past it can work in Compact Flash or ATA mode. I found drivers for a CF reader that uses the bridge and have installed it. That did not help so I am thinking that I need to flip a couple of bits to put the extension into ATA mode.

So my question is what is the OS X equivalent of resedit?
