Short Japanese keyboard spacebar

Notice the two keys on either side of the space bar.

I dug up this old image of mine because I just happened to notice that the two little bumps that help you place your fingers correctly--that are normally on the F and J keys on a Western keyboard--have been moved to the D and K keys (hiragana "shi" and "no" keys). Just thought it was interesting. I'd like to hear the reason.
