Is my eMac dying? Can I save it?

I have an eMac (1.2MHz, 512Mb RAM, 40Gig drive) which I have used solidly since I acquired it new in August 2004.

It has during its life only crashed once completely. However, three weeks ago, this has changed and the computer now freezes up on a regular basis (usually when the minimised Dock pops up, or when the 'attach file' thing appears. But otherwise there is no pattern to the crashes, and I need to hard rest afterwards). About four times a day. I have reinstalled the OS X, to no avail. The Disc Utility never picks up any damage to the hard disc. I can't think of what else could be the problem with the computer.

Ideally I need it repaired as I need it for my own business, and can't afford to get a new Mac at the moment. Any suggestions?

Oh, and another, albeit an infrequent one is that there are 'glitches' to the display picture sometimes (since the last three weeks or so).

I know someone that has had that problem and when they took it to the apple store they said a bunch of people that have come in with that same problem. If you haven't already fallen asleep the logic board needs to be replaced.

Apple has an REP ...

Apple has an REP (repair extension program) to cover this issue -- but HURRY. The REP covers the machine for 3 years after the purchase date. If you bought in August of '04, you're past 3 years but you *might* be able to get an extension or a CS code.

I'm in the UK and not near any Apple Stores - is there anything I can do? Is it economically worth repairing a logic board? I'd rather go back to pen and paper than use a cheap PC.
