Preventive Maintenance Instructions

1. GENERAL: Non compliance with the following PM procedures may result in what will be considered equipment abuse that is not covered under TTI maintenance or equipment manufacturer's warranty agreements plus resulting in excessive maintenance turn-around times. Replacement parts, labor, and other miscellaneous costs as may be incurred will subsequently be chargable to the government.

2. DO NOT insert more than one disk in either drive.

3. DO NOT expose the unit to outside elements as it is not waterproof.

4. DO NOT expose the unit to excessive vibration or shock.

5. DO NOT dismantle the unit or attempt local repairs.

6. SHIPPING:

a. DO NOT ship or transport the unit without first inserting the plactic driver protectors in both drives. Extensive drive head damage could occur.

b. DO NOT expose internal componets to styrofoam (such as through the two front drive ports or side ventilation slots) when preparing the unit for shipment as this material presents serious static electricity hazards to internal componets.

c. INCLUDE a complete description of the failure or symptoms for maintenance analysis purposes when shipping the unit for repair.

7. DO leave the unit connected to AC power at all times if at all possible for those units configured with an Uninteruptible Power Source (which is permanently fastened to the bottom of the unit.

8. DO consult with TTI at one of the following locations prior to initiating any action as the problem may be able to be resolved telephonically. If not, a RMA control number and shipping instructions will be provided.
