Bleurgh
Hi, I've been looking around the site for a few weeks or so and finally decided to join after my Powerbook 1400 prompted me to. I'm attempting to drag it into the wireless world by connecting it to the home network with a Orinnoco Silver WaveLAN PC card (is there any need for that many names?.) Currently it is on 0S 8 so i decided to upgrade it to OS 8.6 instead of faffing around changing settings etc.
Well i know there is an OS 8.5 disc floating around in the house but can i find it? can i...ahem. Well anyway i decided to save the hassle and keep my blood pressure at an acceptable level and bought a fully boxed disc of ebay, well i finally received the RAM upgrade i ordered weeks ago so decided it was now time to install OS 8.5 on my little powerbook. It gets to halfway through the installation and then tells me that it encountered problems reading the installation tome file and the upgrade cannot be completed. Grrrr.
I have no clue how to fix it (it's been a long time since i was part of the Mac community and I'd forgotten that errors could come with a description of what went wrong of sorts) I googled and got nothing. I need a bit of help.
I promise to write on here about my trials and tribulations with my older macs in the future (I have a Performa 5200 that i need to think of a project for and hopefully a colour classic if i can convince my mate to part with it)
