Hey everyone,

I have a first gen iPod shuffle that works great. Goes through all songs that are on it, volume up and down, song advance etc. The problem is, it won't show up in iTunes, iPod Reset Utility, System Profiler, Disk Utility, Diskwarrior, Techtool Pro or iLinkPod.

I have tried everything that I found googling but nothing has worked (which is everything above). I don't have a PC so that is out. I just want to format the drive and restore it in iTunes but if I can't get it to show up in Disk Utility or iPod Reset Utility than I can't restore it.

Anyone have any ideas with something that will show the iPod to format it?

Thanks.

If System Profiler won't even see it, then I'd be inclined to think it's actually a hardware problem.

Re: Need help formatting iPod please...

I forgot I had a crappo HP laptop in the basement. I downloaded the windows version of iPod shuffle reset utility and it worked on the PC. Took it back over to my mac and started up the mac version of iPod reset utility and THIS time it was recognized! Reset it and it showed right up in iTunes.

So, it must've been formatted for the PC and had some sort of error and my mac couldn't see it.

Thanks anyway
