Opening files on os 8

Okay, so I downloaded IE 5, netscape, and some other games for Mac os 8. Im on an LC 475 with 68040 processor. I'm trying to get stuffit on here, and I have downloaded it on my windows computer and put it on a CD. I extracted the .sit with stuffit for windows, and it extracted a file. No extension, just a file. So I just tried to open it anyway on the mac to see if it would work but it didnt. I cant open bin files, hqx files, or pretty much anything. Help me out!
