Does the unit support DHCP?

If so, plug it into a machine and figure out the IP address from the OS. You can use that to possibly determine the access page for your device (if one exists).

For example: If your IP address comes back as 192.168.2.100, your access page will likely be 192.168.2.1. Some machines, however, have the access page at 192.168.2.254. Basically, take the first 3 groups of numbers verbatim, and then try either 1 or 254.

If the rig doesn't have DHCP, you'll have to find the manual for it and hard-code and IP addy into a rig before you can do anything with it.

all i have been able to find online is the intel site with actually very little to say. but i did try the automatic dhcp, and an address did pop up. but i only used the browser to go to that actual address. when i get all it All back together, i will try the ---.---.-.1 or .254

On OS X, the TCP/IP conffig panel tells me the addy for the router. For me, it's 192.168.1.2 but for you it might be different. I've seen other routers come outta the box configured for 192.168.100.1 and other addys.

ok so i found an even better power supply plug. the first i had found i didnt even know the power whatnots because they weren't printed on it. it powered up but the activity and link light were extremely dim. the hub itself says it needs 5v 1A, but i put a 4.5v 400mA, and it all is working great i am actually sending thids through the hub.

but as far as dhcp, i dont think there are any internal thingies to adjust on this hub. i tried automatic dhcp and the ip address came back but didnt take me into the hub. so i plugged my dsl modem in and then the automatic dhcp found that and now i am on the internet.

now the only problem is if i can keep this working when i move and have to get a new modem (different area of charlotte, i have bellsouth, i will be getting alltel).

oh well. i'll figure it out when i get there.

Ok, so it's a hub and not a router. A hub is basically "dumb" and just passes packet around, a router is generally "smart" and can control things, like IP addresses, etc. Your DSL modem is handling the DHCP stuff, and the hub just passes the packets around for it.
