I am attempting to repair my printer, Epson CX 5400. When separating the top part from the base a black piece fell out of the back left corner. It has the letters E1 on it. See picture. I have no idea how to place it when replacing the top part of the printer.
thanks
That's the lever that tells the printer when the scanner assembly is open (for when you are changing ink tanks). It snaps into two little clear plastic clips towards the back of the machine on the left (as it's facing you).
Here's a pic of the clips:
Will the printer still function without the part in place?
Nope. It won't know that the lid has ever closed and will refuse to print.
I have dismantled a CX5400 and the detailed instructions I was following weren't detailed enough. I am having trouble re-attaching the hoses correctly and I also have a black part that I have no recollection where it came from. It looks like some of the hoses connect to it. It has 3 arms (2 flat w/ kind of a "L" shape and 1 with a rectangular fitting). Is this the same part described before?
How does it attach?
