Just ordered a soldering station

Other Technology

I ordered a Weller station a while back from a local Australian supplier (RS Components) but they sent me the wrong part, and by the time I got my refund sorted out I needed the cash to pay bills. So it's only recently that I've been in the market again.

I just ordered this station. So it's not a Weller, but for the same price I get a hot air gun for SMD work as well!

Now to clean off a space on the workbench and go through my bookmarks of "how to" guides and videos.

wow

thats a nice piece, and fairly inexpensive.

Maybe I should look into one... It seems far more reasonable than some of the "Unique" ways that I've been doing work, esp. Surface mount stuff. (Flame heated exacto knife blades, custom made soldering tips from copper and my dremel... burning fuel in a tin can and placing it ontop of components, and my giant industrial heat gun..) LOL

Yeah, Im definetley going to buy something soon.

Let us all know how this piece works out, because $100 (US) is really inexpensive for a controlled station with a hot air gun.

is US$163 cheap though?

With shipping it's not quite just US$100. Still, as I know next to nothing about the market for such things, is US$163 shipped still a great deal?

Tools, tools, tools, can't say when I might use 'em, but I likes to have 'em just in case! Cool Mac

very reasonable

well, here is an auction in the US for the same station:

so, with shipping, in the US its only $157.00 which really is fairly reasonable, provided that it is of a fairly good quality - And I am sure that DrBunsen will follow up and let us know. Smiling
