For Sale (maybe trade): 6 DVD Mac OS Anthology - Every OS since System 7, through OS 8.6, in all languages

For Sale and Trade

I bought this, thinking it would make it far easier to work on all the Macs I have, as opposed to "Oh crap, where are my 7.1 disks?" and "Where did I put that stupid OS 7.5 hard drive with all the updates?!" and "Damn, this is the CRACKED 7.6.1 CD, I need the other one" and "I need a new OS 8 CD" and "Which of my FIVE OS 9.1 CDRs works in this 8x cd drive?" ...sorry, I just figured someone here might be able to relate Sticking out tongue

Anyway, there's actually an EIGHT disc collection which goes to os 9.0, which I found about one week AFTER I bought this 6 disc collection for 70 bucks. I don't have any need to keep both of these, so I'm offering the 6 dvd set for sale.

-- It's in good condition, boxes show only light wear, dvds in excellent condition
-- Disc 1: 7.0, 7.0.1, 7.1, 7.1.1, 7.1.2, 7.5, 7.5.3, 7.5.5 Update, 7.6.1, OS 8.0
-- Disc 2: OS 8 (continued), OS 8.1
-- Disc 3: OS 8.1 (continued)
-- Disc 4: OS 8.1 (continued), OS 8.5, OS 8.5.1
-- Disc 5: OS 8.6
-- Disc 6: OS 8.6 (continued)

You may be wondering why os 8 can span multiple DVDs; it's because Apple has included nearly every region/language release of each system on these discs. THey are normal DVDs, they are not bootable!! You will need to find your own method of installing any particular OS onto a hard drive (my two methods; 1) Using a Beige G3 with two IDE busses and DVD drive, 2) have a network-capable OS on the target machine, and put the DVD in a different machine- do a network install).

I'm asking 60 bucks (plus a little for shipping; give me your zip or country/etc for a price quote). I do have a paypal account, and would prefer using that, but another arrangement can be made if necessary.

I'm not specifically so keen on a trade, but make me an offer and I'll think about it. I am trying to get my hands on a few things... a Quadra 800/840/950, maybe a PPC 601 upgrade for any quadra... I'm also looking for any PCI PowerMac stuff, perhaps a low-level G3 card, maybe some ram, etc etc whatever... I'm trying to get a PowerMac 9600 and build it up, so anything that might help in that endeavor is good too. Or if you just have something unique that I can find a justifiable use for, that's a possibility.

This and the 8 disc set were

This and the 8 disc set were both eBay finds a while back. Yeah, they were ADC stuff, but beyond that I don't know how they were originally acquired.

The back of the white box holding discs 1-4 says this:

Worldwide System Software for Developers
1999 Edition
From System 7 to Mac OS 8.5 and beyond
This DVD-ROM set is the first DVD offering from the Apple Developer Connection. The DVD format was selected because it delivers so much useful data on one convenient and easy-to-use medium. This collection is designed to assist you in extending your product's reach into international markets and environments.

A cool concept on Apple's part, but I can't see WHY on Earth they would do this and then subsequently kill all support for their Classic OS only a couple years later... no comment, I don't like OS X, we'll just leave it at that.

The AIO was my first attempt at a strong, up-to-date Beige PowerMac, but the 9600 is my next goal. And the "Classic" is actually my upgraded Color Classic alongside my PC's monitor; they're currently my two main machines.
