Is it possible to pick up wireless networks with a AE base station?
I have a mac mini without a AE card and would like to use the base station to pick up wireless networks instead of broadcasting a network.

Are you looking to connect the mini to another network, and try to use the APE as the WiFi interface? If so, a cheap USB WiFi dongle will do that just fine. If you want ot go wardriving w/ the mini, the dongle w/ the right chipset will work too.
I have not been able to find a usb wifi that will work with a mini, I have tried several.
But I do have a spare APE base station. I have a newer APE set up to as my wireless network.

That pretty much sums up the experience I've had trying to get anything other than dlink's dwl-122 (B, usb 1.1) card to work. IT ALL SUCKS,
of course you COULD get a game adapter/wireless bridge. They're pretty expensive, but you can hook up more than one computer if you have a switch.
Several are mentioned in this thread on WiGLE.net that should work. Some are fairly cheap. The Syntax USB-400 can be had for fairly cheap, I looked it up someplace like BestBuy or CompUSA. There chould be a USB 2.0 802.11g dongle that works somewhere.
This thread on Mas OS X Hints has more info and a link to a list of compatible devices.
