Hey, a friend gave me the MLB from his 500 MHz TiBook, it had something go wrong with one of the caps and stopped working...

We determined which one it was, but weren't able to tell what the value of it was or anything to try and fix it, its "C101" located right under the memory slots.

anyone know the value of that cap and where to find a place that'll sell me a single surface-mount capacitor?

thanks
~ian

Is it just me, or is there al

Is it just me, or is there also some damage to R173, or just the pads? Was this a failed over-clock attempt? One pad for R173 looks brown/resined and there is that white line that looks like a scratch between the pads.

Nah there wasn't a R173 befor

Nah there wasn't a R173 before, there is a bit of gunk on the pad, but its doesn't look like its been touched with solder (either to try to bridge it or removing something)... and the white line is just between the pads, its printed on, there's one in between the pads from C101 as well (that you can see since its missing, dunno if its visible in the picture)...

and it wasn't an o/c attempt, i think the one cap just fried, the prev. owner wasn't one to try to overclock his powerbook Tongue
