Please help, iMac problem.

yes, I know you hate these problems. Well, on transport, both of the blue 350 mhz 2nd rev iMacs that I had to work on, started getting washed out color. Now, the text and colors look as if they are on 16 colors with motion blur. However, when I turn down the contrast, they seem to be okay, one however, fluctuates in brightness.
Is there anything I can do about this?
