Disk ][ issues

Hello all,

Some time ago, I acquired an Apple ][+ with a disk interface card and two drives. I just recently got the ][+ working after determining that one of the chips in the first 16K of RAM was bad. To do that, I had to pull a chip from my language card, so I currently only have 48K until my RAM arrives tomorrow.

Giggity

I think the Apple IIGS has some interesting terminology
and phrases.
I am going through the Firmware Reference and there
is a Q register.

Q register? What is that?
It is a Quagmire Register.

What the hell is a Quagmire register?
Quagmire meaning

A) A soft boggy land that gives underfoot
Dirol an awkward, complex, or hazardous situation.

None of the above.
Apple's definition is Speedy.

Hmm. Speedy. What like the Quagmire character in
Family Guy.
Where they referencing the Future, or was
Seth taking an Apple reference in his show?

Giggity.

Mouse not working on Apple IIGS

Recently picked up a nice Apple II GS with keyboard and mouse and disk drives. It boots up fine, and I played a few games on it using keyboard and a joystick too. They work fine. But for some reason the mouse doesnt work when I boot into something like GE OS, or a game like zany golf which is supposed to use the mouse.

IIgs composit output: no color in 50Hz PAL mode

I am almost sure this has been asked before, but I can only find answers for NTSC: Is the IIgs capable of outputting a PAL color signal on the composite port?

I can't get it to display color on neither a LCD TV nor on my Commodore 1084S, that works perfectly for RGB. NTSC mode is in color, however.

RGB is fine for GS/OS and text, but most games look much nicer on composite. For example Prince of Persia looks much nicer on my IIe than on the IIgs.

"LOAD" command on Apple //e, flashing N

I'm trying to load games to the floppy disk by playing an audio file over the cassette input on the Apple //e(essentially I'm emulating the data cassette with my phone). Files and other info come from this website (http://asciiexpress.net/diskserver/). I've succesfully downloaded a few games to different disks but Ive not encountered a problem. Just as a preface, I've had this problem with files that on subsequent attempts successfully loaded. Here is a description of events that lead to the problem.
1.type "LOAD"+ enter
2.I wait for a few seconds
