Hand-built by Woz Disk Controller

A travel through time for those interested in the history of the Disk ][ ...

One of my long-time goals was to try and replicate the Disk ][ controller that Woz originally designed.Part of it was the challenge, part was to see what Woz went through and the differences thatthis board has from the production board produced by Apple.

So I bought this mint Rom 3 //gs off ebay....

... and I sent the seller specific packing instructions, citing previous extreme damage I've had during shipment of improperly packed similar equipment.

Well, they did write "fragile" and "this side up" on the box (even though the monitor was packed face-down), but that was it.  There was a handful of packing peanuts in the bottom of the box, and a loose half-sheet of bubble wrap on top.  The equipment was just loose in the box, with no padding or support whatsoever.

Apple IIgs dithered backgrounds

Hi  All,  I have noticed that all the IIgs backgrounds and Disk drives and scroll windows are all

dithered, and they look awful.  Is ther someway I can turn off the dithering or put smooth

backgrounds on the OS?

Thanks,

Partly working keyboard

Having spent some time searching for an Apple ][ related forum I finally found this site, which I'm glad I did!

I'm trying to revive an old Apple ][+ (actually an Asian clone) and after cleaning it up (removing corrosion), re-soldering some cold joints and changing a 74LS74 I now have the familiar "Apple ][", the cursor and beep. However, the keyboard doesn't work -or rather: CTRL-RESET is the only thing that works! There's no reaction from the other keys.

How to start system from a hard drive for my IIgs

Hi All, just received my ReActiveMicro drive it came with a lot of cool stuff and a 32 mg drive

that needed  to be initialized, which I did.  I have a set of  IIgs 6.04 disks and I used the install disk

to setup the drive. But I have no idea how to get my system to boot into the drive.  Okay, I'm completely

new and obviously very slow.  So if someone could tell how to setup the drive correctly it would be much

appreciated.

Thank you,

Apple IIe HiRes mode issue

I recently purcahsed my first IIe, so still working things out. After fixing the PSU and replacing the CPU it is up and running, but with a few teething issues.

I added a 80 Col card to a Rev A motherboard, with the understanding that HiRes should work, but Double HiRes not.

Using something like XPS diagnostic the output in 80 Col mode shows spaces are replaced with an *

(Not a problem in 40 col mode)

I don't know if this is correct or an issue? Ideas would be appreciated!

Unstable Apple ][

Hello,

Forums:

Apple //c slow wave display

New topic as I continue to troubleshoot my old Apple //c and try to bring it back to life.

Now that it boots (yay!, thanks for the help from this forum), the display has a slow "wave" left-to-right that moves up from the bottom to top.   It is not the monitor.  I switched out the little //c monitor for a Apple Color Composite monitor.   Same symptom.

Just got an Apple IIe, boot issue

Heya guys, I got an Apple iie from an erecycling lot, I was able to get it to boot fine, but it was super dirty, so I cleaned the whole computer and reasembled it.

After I got it back together, when I turn on the IIe, it flashes a full white square, then fades out everyother line to go away, then comes back to a full white square, does one low beep, then repeats this.

I ran the self diagnosis, (holding both apple keys and turning it on) and its says "Kernel Okay"
