That story is from my 'hood. Right around the corner (or so). I guess the work ethic has slipped. In the '80s, a friend of mine bought a "hot" VCR for $75. It was made of wood and hand painted. He said it was a work of art. Based on the carving and painting he figured the guy made minimum wage. The friend probably still has it. How long do you have to be in New York City before you learn that you have to look in the box and open stuff up.

How soon before somebody gets popped, like a dope deal gone bad, because the buyer demanded "good faith" before the money changed hands and discovered the con? Both parties deserve whatever they get in a street deal like this.

What's worse is that it's happening at the retail level. Enough documented cases of carefully repackaged boxes on the shelves of department stores.
