Farralon PN592A-TP in a color classic

Can I put a Farralon PN592A-TP ethernet card in my color classic or Mystic board, plug into my broadband switch, and punch up the WWW? Would this work on my LCIII too?

It is a LC PDS network card and should work in System 8 with no needed extensions. Not sure about the various System 7.xes.

OS version

I'm using IE and Netscape 3.x which came with OS 8.1. I've had real problems with both, so I'd recommend upgrading to the latest you can find for that platform. 8.1 works really well on my Mystic. Don't know how you can get OS 9 on a Mystic or CC.

Jag's House recommends Netscape 4.08 with no mention of IE. It depends on where you go to. This forum works fine with IE 3 as well as Google, but I've had it crash on many sites, most notably Microsoft's.

What ethernet board are you using in your Mystic?

Did you have to mod the outside of the CC for the ethernet port or anything else?

If you installed 8.1 from a CD-Rom which CD-Rom drive do you recommend for the Mystic?

Thanks,

Howard

Re: Ethernet board

Its an LC PDS board, but don't know the manufacturer or model, but I'm guessing Farallon. I'll get that info to you when I get home from work.

No modification of the external portion of the CC was needed. I have a back panel cut for the Mystic, but haven't installed it yet. I'm working on an alternate closure method.

I used a generic external CD-ROM.

What CD-Roms will work with a CC?

What are the requirements of the CD-Rom for the CC? What are the connector types and pin-outs.

External CD

is on the SCSI bus. The DB25-pin connector to a standard SCSI-1 (centronics interface). Don't know of the particular pin-outs.

If you are looking to go with an internal CD, there is an example of a hack at:

I guess I'm not sure what you are wanting to try and do.

getting 8 on there to begin with

I have 2 Mystics running 7.6.1. I set up both of them with the CC mobo and then did the resedit hacks (haven't worked up to the VGA mod yet). I want to put 8 on one of them, but am not exactly sure how to go about it. won't the system folder change and then not reboot? do I have to do the VGA mod to get it done right?

danke,
matt
