Bad B&W Power Supply?

Hi all,

My B&W G3 does not start up when I hit the power button. I get the LED on the power button, the internal fan running and lights on the logic board, but no fans in the power supply. Is it a dead power supply? I have tried resettign the LB and doing the CUDA reset, with the same results. Any input is greatly appreciated.

No fan in the power supply? m

No fan in the power supply? most likely a power supply issue. These ATX PS really needed their fan going.

Have another PS to try?

The PS on these B&W are very close to ATX. What I did was modified an ATX extender and now I can use any ATX PS in my B&W throught that extender. Currently I have a 450 watts dual fan unit in there.

That's what I figured. Okay, I'm headed down to Circuit City to pick up a new PSU. I'll let you know how it works. Thanks!

Remember that you can't use an ATX supply plug-and-play with a B&W.

Yep, I know. In fact, I'm in the process of removing that extra white wire right now. Thanks for the warning.

Don't do it by cable colour -

Don't do it by cable colour - but by pin count. Some atx psu's have wrong colour wires.

Right. I meant the one that

Right. I meant the one that is supposed to be removed, and in this case it is white. Anyway, I put everything back together, and she is installing OS 9 as we speak! It's working like a champ. Now, I just have to get OS 9 on there, install any firmware updates that it doesn't have, install the update that allows it to run a G4, and then install Panther! I'll let you all know how it turns out. Thanks again for the help.
