Disk speed

Anyone know what the realistic flpppy disk access speed of a standard //e is?

Just going by loading times, it seems quicker than my Commodore 64 Wink

Hmm.

By very loose memory, I think it is 53 kilosomethings a second. I'm not sure if it's kilobits or kilobytes.

I think if you use a program called Copy II utilities you can find the disk speed. I think it allows you to read, check and adjust it.

Are you talking about the software or the hardware end of things? It really depends on the OS you are using. If you are using DOS 3.3, it will be noticably slower in reading sectors than if you are using a variant of ProDOS. Even Pascal (UCSD) is a bit different.
