G3 B&W OS X installation failure

The install (full install from CD) gets as far as Processing Base System Part 2 and then fails, "There were errors installing the software - Please try installing again) requiring me to reboot and we start the process all over again with the same results. Yes, as you know, I am a newbie, so if there is a "Installing OS X for Dummies" somewhere, I am more than willing to read and do.

The original os was 10.2.8 and it just died for no apparent reason (see previous post by me http://www.applefritter.com/node/7222 ). So I want to install fresh, etc.

The system DOES boot from the CD without problems:

1-Disk is in the drive
2-Start system while holding down the "c" key
3-OS X screen prepares for installation
4-click continue, etc until the install section
5-I do a basic install (don't know enough to check options)
6- then I have to restart after the aforementioned message

Please advise!!

Will give it a try! Was wondering if I can remove the hard drive, place it in a different B&W (same system specs) format and install, remove and then replace it in the original; will this work?

BAAAAAAAAAAAAD MEMORY!

After much ado, I have discerned that it it is/was bad memory that caused to faults! After some tweaking however, (had to resort to the ol' Windows-days) she is now running and purring as she was meant to! Thanks for all of the input!

This case closed! Smile
