Huh?

I don't quite understand what you mean. The iTunes Music Store is only accessable from within iTunes. You can't buy iTunes music through IE, or any web browser for that matter. Can you describe what you are trying to do when you get the error, like what link you click, or what your screen looks like?

Ohhhhh

Okay, I think I understand. When you go to www.apple.com/itunes and see the "Top 10 Songs" list, and you click a song you wanna sample, it gives you an error message... right? It's because the version of IE your using doesn't know how to talk to iTunes. When I click a top ten song from apple.com/itunes in Safari, it launches iTunes and shows me that song. What version OS are you using? Mac or Windows? What version IE are you using? The latest version of IE should fix your problem, otherwise you'r just gonna have to refer to the top ten list thats built into iTunes Music Store.

Yeah

You'll need at least 10.1.5 and iTunes 4 to mess with the iTMS stuff.

itunes bull

why is it that apple supports older windows os's then apple ones? is it because windows doesnt come out with a revision of an os every month? i really think apple should support at least os 9 on all their software or at least make early versions of 10 avalible for download at their website.

maybe all of us dont have bottomless wallets (im 13 and seriously have zero cash) and my mom will not buy a new os unless it make our computer faster or better and i cant find any reason that she will take to buy os 10 at 69 dollars.

i dont think apple should expect everyone to have the absolute latest latest os they come out with. mabye if they didnt come out with a new one every month and a half people would have a better selection of software (i dont think that made sense)

sorry for the really long and boring post but i think apple should support people who dont buy their latest and greatest os.

Reality Check

OS 9 is 4 versions old and a generation behind. Theres no reason Apple should continue to support it because a few people don't have the $30 to upgrade to a version of OS X. As for how iTunes support compares with windows, theres all of 6 months difference. ME came out in late 2000, OS X came out early 2001 and both represent a major chance in the underpinnings.

Apple also doesn't expect you to have the latest and greatest. Most of thier software supports older versions of OS X. They do however expect that you aren't stuck in the stone age. Which is more than reasonable. If you can't afford to update to a semi-modern OS you probably can't afford to buy music off iTMS.

Apple doesn't support older O

Apple doesn't support older OSs anymore because it wastes money, and precious man hours. Apple's "Classic OS" was at a developmental dead end. I highly doubt they could write OS9 versions of all there software that would be even close to competitive with 10s. X just has more going for it, and Apple is going to capitalize on that the cheapest way they can, by dropping support for old technology so they can focus on the here and now.

Whining about Apple dropping

Whining about Apple dropping support for OS 9 now that OS X has matured is like whining about Apple dropping support for System 6 when they had 7 running well. Or heck, even complaining about MS starting to drop NT 3/4 support now that XP is all the rage. It is an exercise in futility. Life moves on, and so does software. You just gotta deal with it. Using an OS 4 revisions behind, a browser no longer supported, and music software 2 major revisions back and whining about not being able to use the newest music buying site is an exercise in futility. We aren't being jerks here, so don't get offended! We are just pointing out the truth and reality of your situation.

Well Microsoft actually still

Well Microsoft actually still offically supports Windows 98 on paid per incident as outlined here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;[LN];LifeAn1 and it will be supported until june 30, 2006 when it will be 8 years old. Thats a lot longer than how Apple cuts off support. And I find that rather odd due to the fact that a typical Mac user will keep his Mac for a lot longer than the average Windows user.

Btw, I am just pointing this out, I only have windows xp/2000/2003/os x machines on my network at home for primary machines so I do keep with the joneses mostly (my son does runs an old windows 98se box for his old parallel webcam 2).
