Mystic HD Size/Partition Limitations

Hello. I just got a CC and a LC575 (I assume, although it has a full 040) motherboard. What I'd like to know is what are the hard drive and/or partition size limits? Also, the site that hosts the service manual links in the FAQ is down. What is the (basic) proceedure to get at the drive?

that hard drive stuff . . .

Hey,

What the Mac can "see" in terms of hard drive size is determined by the system software. The CC runs from 7.1 to 7.6.1. SSW 7.1 is limited -- IIRC -- to 2 gigs. 7.6.1 is limited to terabytes, ie, whatever drive you might have. Since it is a SCSI drive we'll assume it's less than 4 gigs. If you want to partition the drive you would use the Apple HD SC utility that installs with every OS (more or less, nit pickers). If the drive isn't an Apple drive there is a hacked version of Apple HD SC that could be found by googling it through google.com/mac.html. That hacked version will "see" drives that the unhacked version will not recognize.
