I have a couple Indigo slot-loading iMacs which startup for a second then shutdown, no video out either. I've seen most of the case conversions using an ATX power supply but is the power supply in the 8100 robust enough (225W max) to run an iMac? With an extra drive. Or should I look for something else?

The 8100 puts out enough power, as IIRC the iMac takes about 130-140W with the CRT. But, the 8100 PS might not put out the correct voltages. I don't recall if it supplies 3.3v which is needed for the iMac. By the time you buy and hack in a 3.3v regulator, a-la the Color Classic mods, and do the wiring, you would probably have been much easier served by a cheap ATX PS.
I think I'll see if I can find the pinouts for the 8100 PS but the iMac being a newer machine it would probably be better with the ATX PS.
