Connect LC575 to ImacG5 how?

I have an LC575 standing on it's last legs. It won't be long until it's sent to the great recycler in the sky (well Tokyo anyway, as CRT based items cannot be thrown out in Japan!) There seems to be no one willing to adopt it, so it's time to go. I still have some files on there that i need to transfer to my Imac, any suggestions for the cheapest, quickest solution would be much appreciated.
All I have to aid the transfer are USB, firewire and ethernet connections on the Imac and a SCSI and serial port on the LC575.

USB Floppy Drive

Your LC575 already has a floppy, so provided the files on the 575 aren't too large, that might be the ticket. A USB floppy drive should cost less than $50 US, which would probably be cheaper & less trouble than any of the other connectivity or drive options.

You're right.

I have just come to the same conclusion, i looked into connecting over serial ports with a USB to serial connector, even considered going via a dialup modem, but it dawned on me, use a floppy. I had forgot about those things, it's been so long since I used one. Who knows, I may be able to get my powerbook G3 working and be able to use the floppy with that. Then I won't need to buy a USB drive. FIngers crossed.

Thanks for the advice!

SCSI and USB ZIP drives?

Hook up a SCSI Zip 100 drive to the LC575; transfer the files 100MB at a time.

Hook up a USB Zip 100 or 250 (not 750) drive to the iMac; put the files on the iMac at your liesure.

You might be able to borrow these items from friends, or buy them second-hand. The USB Zip drive may come in handy later anyway.

I'd offer to send you a SCSI Zip drive, but if you're in Japan, that would get expensive.

CSII Ethernet card?

You could probably find a Comm Slot II (CSII) Ethernet card on eBay for very little. I got mine for $5.95 US.

Assuming you don't have anything in the PDS slot, a PDS Ethernet card will work just as well, and they're more common than the Comm Slot cards. My mom used an LC 575 with a PDS Ethernet card to get online with, and it worked great (well, at least for her).

Thanks.

Well I copied the files to a couple of floppies. There was less than I thought. The whole harddrive was only about 380MB.... I can't imagine how I'd cope these days, I was annoyed that my imac only had an 80Gb in it. I've almost filled up my 250GB external. Stuff just expands to meet the availabe space doesn't it, the same goes for my bedroom.
I managed to boot it with my powerbook G3's copy of OS8.1, I was supried that it could be done. The little guy is still useful after all. I would've donated it if i had time and the screen didn't tend to adopt purple hues.
I wiped the hard drive, phoned the apple recycle centre and now the poor little thing will soon be off to see it's maker. Sad when their time is up, ah well...
Thanks LC575
