ok, I have this 1gb Jaz drive I got from school a few years back. it's scsi, and I have an adapter that will make it fit a 25 pin SCSI port. the cable is (sorta) frayed where the cable fits the plug, on both ends. The cable is in ok condition, the fraying is just from the cable's insilation. I havnt had much use for it until this past weekend, when I scored 7 Jaz 1gb disks for $2.99 each. now, I am interested in using this for backup, as the disks are more durable than CDs, my primary method of backup until now, and before that, Zip disks, and before that, floppies.
now, in order to operate this beast, I need a power supply. I cant find it at Radio Shack, as it uses a special plug. I dont even know what voltage it is.
so, if you have one of these power supplys, shoot me a PM, and we can make a deal. I dont want to spend more than $20.00 on a power suppply.
Payment will be made by Money orders.
thanks so much. -digital
Tell that to the Jaz users who suffered from spontaneous drive death. If you want a reliable media, Jaz is not the way to go...stick with CDs.
do the jaz and zip use the same power supply?
Nope.
I actually have an extra Jaz power supply. I tried using it to power up a QUE QPS-525 Firewire CD burner I just picked up. No luck. Don't suppose you have a power supply for one of those lying arround do ya? My wife needs a CD burner for her iMac DV+ 450. I tried getting a slot loading CDRW drive but nothing out there for less then $60. Let me know if you want to trade anything or how much you'd be willing to spend for the PS.
Take Care,
Danny
I have a 2GB Internal SCSI Jaz drive with accompanying Adaptec SCSI-2 Card. It also comes with internal Cable and Terminator. There are no Disks with it, but it would work great internally. This one is hardly used, and it possible to put in an external SCSI case. It also has the 3.5" to 5.25" Bay adapter.
