Powerbook 5300cs problem

Yeah i know extremely uncommon, but the pb 5300cs has a screen problem and im asking wheater it has to do with the screen cable, screen or logic board or something else

you can see little lines of colour in the screen it goes across the whole bottom half of the lcd and it is annoying when looking at webpages and word documents

That is the same as the sympt

That is the same as the symptoms on a friend's 1400. It would go away temporarily when we applied pressure to the sides of the screen bezel. This is a sign that the cable is not seated properly. He fixed his by adding gaffer tape to the bezel to make the pressure permanent. I would suggest trying squeezing the sides of the bezel to see if that works. If it does, a better solution than taping up the outsides might be a strip of card under the edge connector inside the bezel to apply a little pressure.

I've seen a bad solder joint

I've seen a bad solder joint on the video chip cause that. I can't remember if that machine uses the C&T 65000 series chips or not. That was a common problem on those models.
