Another one bites the dust...

Now the "Any suggestions on how to forget a girl?" thread was pulled. What a drag. There must be a better solution than just pulling these pushing-the-limit threads completely. People spend a lot of time and heart and soul on some of these more provocative threads. And we had all just finished kissing and making up too. I guess we've been over this before. It's still painful though.

some explanation

http://www.applefritter.com/node/10151

Maybe instead of just "Access denied
You are not authorized to access this page," we could get a short explanation of why the page was pulled?

That really sucks

I really think that we should come up with something different, like maybe putting the page on a "holding cycle", where people can't post to it or read it or something like that for a period of time to let people cool off.

huh?

I'm confused why the thread was pulled at all. As usual, I'll call for minimizing censorship, can't see why or how such a discussion harms AF or TO at all. Not that I cared at all about the thread, it's just weird when a bunch of thoughtful commentary gets tossed in the skip along with whatever offended the powers-that-be. Ahh, whatever.

BTW, this thread more appropriately belongs in Af Architects, doncha think?

Yes, not reason enough

Yeah, I wasn't sure whether to put it here or in AF architecture. Guess I just flipped a coin in my head and it came up here.

The sad thing is the conflicts raised between participants in the thread were being resolved right before it was pulled and there was a lot to see and learn in that process alone. There were some admissions of mistakes having been made and some revealing explanations. A lot of people who were following the thread will never see those closing moments. There are more important things for young teenage boys to learn than how to be always prim and proper, such as conflict resolution, no matter what the language used, and there were only a couple of moments where language went downhill a little, but nothing like it did in previously pulled threads.

There was some misogynistic humor which was not tasteful, but isn't it more helpful to see it exposed and denounced, than to try to hide the fact that it is pervasive in much of male speech everywhere? That's definitely another thing that teenage boys need to witness and realize. This was not a thread to pull. The porn stuff a couple of months ago might have rightly been pulled, but not this stuff, unless there was some final post that I didn't see which was beyond the pale.

I agree with Hawaii Cruiser,

I agree with Hawaii Cruiser, the thread had some really good advice. I might actually try some of it. Everyone also had made up. No offense to Tom, but after u had marked it for deletion, did u actually go back and check it?

LOL! SCR, that's a good one.

LOL! SCR, that's a good one.

(I don't even know, is lol allowed on this site, or is it considered below every Apple user's dignity?)

Which reminds me of something else lost with the thread. One of the funniest lines I've read on Applefritter. Catmistake made a humorous line near the end which was comedic genius. Made me laugh out loud every time I reread it. Too bad, that too, gone for good.

Kindly note that

Kindly note that extended notice was given before the thread was deleted so you would all have time to make your "backups" and get in your final words.
