hmm ... the easiest way to do it would be to cut the end off a normal firewire cable (and the connector off that cable) and solder the wires together ... or if you can get the connector apart you could re-crimp it ... but i dont think you will be abole to find one as a off-the-shelf part ...

You need an additional cable? Or just a replacement for this one?
If this one is damaged, the easiest course would be to simply fix this one, no? In the photo, I can see a separated black wire . . . if that's the problem, why not just resolder the wire?

I thought someone might suggest that. However the black wire isn't the culprit. I've tried reconnecting the severed ends with no luck. My next step would be to cut this wire a little further down past the proprietary connector, and re-do all the pinouts. I'm pretty sure that won't work though. I guess Tom's suggestion would be the most logical, I'll try that too. My only problem has been the wire that seems to come from the braided sheathing, I'm not sure if its going directly to another pin on the standard side, or if it's just grounded to the whole metal braid.
