Apple IIe purchasing?

Where is the best place to try and purchase Apple IIe equipment? I'm looking for a system in nice working condition, drives, monitor, add-on boards, etc... I see them on eBay and could begin bidding there, but as I learned when I began collecting for classic MACs, there are soem better places than eBay to purchase Mac equipment. I joined a mailing list for the MAC (LEM Swap List). Is there a similar list for Apple IIe equipment, or am I better off just going through eBay?

Thanks
John

Where to buy

You'll pay more on eBay, but probably save time in your collection efforts unless you like frequent trips dumpster diving (a fine tradition), school auctions, yard/garage sales or weekly trips to the local computer surplus and Salvation Army type places. Oh wait, I just recommended all the places to go look.

I've scored some of the coolest, rarest stuff now and then at surplus computer dumps but it's all mostly standard kit. For common items, thats the place to go - you might get lucky but if you've got the budget, shop eBay frequently for those hard to come by items.

Where to buy

Ebay is for non-collectors .. its people just trying to make a buck..

User groups and places like here are the best..

I do buy off of ebay, but usually get raped in the process ( especially since i'm in Canada and the shipping is out of this world )

But im on the old usenet groups that google bought ( or however they got them )

comp.sys.apple2.comm
comp.emulators.apple2
comp.sys.apple2.gno
comp.sys.apple
comp.sys.apple2.marketplace
comp.sys.apple2.programmer

Join and ask..

Also recycling shops and places like that also have some hidden treasues..

Abysmal

Those would be quite standard Usenet newsfeed archives.
