Was it recently upgraded to OS X, and if so, did you skip giving it the firmware update? Wink

Trying to install OS X withou

Trying to install OS X without a firmware update will cause that problem on slot loaders. What model is it? Is it tray or slot loading? It could be the flyback, or if it's a tray loader it could even just be that the monitor cable came unplugged.

Check out this thread: http://www.applefritter.com/node/5552

You got your choices: flyback, PAV board, bad button, bad battery, bad motherboard, non-updated firmware, or who knows what else, and then the question becomes, is it really worth the time and energy and money to figure out which one is causing the problem? You might be better off spending all that time and energy mowing the neighbors' lawns and then taking the wages and buying a working model on craigslist and just transfer your harddrive. Sorry to be cynical, but I speak from too much experience. It's all too likely you might finally fix it and then the thing breaks down again a week later.
