Where do you live? I'd love to get it.
Would you mind taking a few photos and upload them to your gallery, please? I would love to see your machine, even if I am not the one to take it off your hands.
I guess I've missed this wonderful thing, have I?
Well, you certainly haven't missed the photos I asked for. Those are not forthcoming apparently. I would be warry of this free offer in light of the absence of photos.
I've PM'd him twice regarding shipping costs, and received no response. At this point, I'm not sure I'd want to gamble the shipping costs.
Well, I'm sure the fellow whose giving this away will simply say "Hey, it's free -- beggars can't be choosy." But the fact is, if you post about giving something away you ought to be more responsible about it. And heck, I'm not even standing in line to take this item off his hands! I simply wanted to have a look at the machine!
But if you've tried to contact him twice and he still hasn't responded, I would say that it's one of those "too good to be true" offers, or perhaps the machine doesn't even exist and the fellow just posted here as a joke. In any case, if he's serious, he needs to produce a follow-up post with some real information for us. Otherwise, I would suggest steering clear of this offer.
I have seen people with computer items spam newsgroups, a dozen forums, etc offering an item and most likely send it to the first person who responds and never bother to mention its gone on any of the places it was offered.
I still recall somebody with A/UX manuals who must have had 30 people asking about them for weeks because it was spammed all over the place.
Well, it hasn't been sent to the first person to reply in this topic. I could've really used that carrying case for my Classic II...
sunremarketing (Sun Remarketing's Ebay ID) had some rainbow striped compact mac carrying cases for about $16 on Ebay. They may all be gone, but it can't hurt to email them and see if there are any left. They had a bunch of them, judging from the number of auctions they held.
I'm going to make a padded wood case sometime instead.
