How do I activate the Save as function under the File menu

Can somebody help me. I have a ibook G4 apple. It works perfectly, the only problem is that i don't know how the function of save as stopped working.
I mean, I click file and the sub menu comes up, then i click save as and it does nothing. It should ask you where you want to save the doc. Well I thought that it accidentally got deactivated. It will be great if somebody can give hand with that.

In what program? Does it do

In what program? Does it do this in every program, or just one/a few?

If it's a brand new document

If it's a brand new document that's never been saved before, the "Save As" option will be locked out. If it's never been saved before, you can't "save it as" something else.

Use the "Save" command to save the first time. If, after that, you decide you'd like to save a copy of the file under a new name, use the "Save As" command, which will become available.

Making Clear the problem with the SAVE AS FUNCTION

I don't think I explained myself very well.I tried to say that the {SAVE AS FUNCTION, UNDER THE FILE TAB} is there when i want to save a completly new documet with a NEW name, The thing is that in any program, and even copying a picture from a web page ( like: we do rightclick and then select SAVE AS) it does shows the command SAVE AS but you CLICK on it and it does not save the picture nor does anything else.

I hope I explained better this time. Thanks and hope to get your help.

Some web page use some script

Some web page use some scripting that disables that function. Is it on a particular site or all that you go to to try it on?
