1- Pack eMac into original box with all accessories.
2- Place into car. Drive to a large, lonely forest.
3- Remove eBox from car, deposit by the road.
4- Leave.

Gosh...that was FUNNY!!! I mean, we all fix our computer problems by dumping our machines by the road...
sounds like some kind of short in the monitor/flyback transformer problem like the imacs used to have, if i remember corectly, if you are techinacaly minded, and know how to discharge a crt safely, its a $30(in that range)part and a 45min repair job, although it may not be that if the screen flickers, sounds more like a loose cable or a power suply problem but i digress....
well..I dont like iMacs, eMacs, or any other computer that have there monitors built-in, my friends parents brung this thing by wanting me to fix it for them but I dont think I am going to be able to! Apple says that there is no Apple Care for this computer because they didnt purchase it..I think there screwed. I like the way it looks but I think I will stick with the Powerbook/Powermac stuff..lol

A look at Apple's page tells me that eMacs have external video mirroring, so it might be possible to narrow down the problem and give direction to your troubleshooting. If it works with external video, then you know the problem is the display portion of the analog board. If it still doesn't work, then you know to look to the power supply portion of the a/b or the motherboard.
well....they JUST NOW told me that the computer started having trouble AFTER there house got hit by lightning! I wish they would have told me that bit of info earlier!..:-s
well...I called Apple and they said it will be fixed for free if I take it somewhere like CompUSA.
Michael
Incorrect.
This is how we fix The eMac Problem.
She said that I can HAVE the computer! I am going to Oklahoma City in a couple of days to get it fixed.
Wish me luck!

How much are dead eMacs going for these days?! I took it to CompUSA and they said they could fix it for free but apple says there is no record of when this computer was purchased but they know it was manifactured in october of this year! But for some reason they still need the receipt for the computer to prove that the computer has its one year warranty left on it! I had apple make the manifacture date the date of purchase, compUSA says that they need apple to Fax them or give them some sort of proof that the computer is still under warranty. apple knows that the computer is still under warranty but refuses to send CompUSA ANYTHING stating that! ARRGGGG!!!!!!!!!
Bureaucracies and their multitudes of forms. Confusing.
Perhaps you could work on moving the eMac to a tower case. Like some iMacs have been.
