Can't activate my 68kmla account!

After seeing the 68kmla forum up and running today, I re-registered my account on 68kMLA. Unfortunately, the activation email never arrived at my email address. I assume my server-side SPAM filter snagged it. Although I've now temporarily disabled my server SPAM filter, it is now impossible for me to do anything since I never received the activation email! With no contact information that I can see displayed on the 68kMLA site, I don't see how its possible to contact an admin. I've PM'd Tom Levens here, but I don't know if he checks his PM's often.

Anyone know how to manually get the activation email resent, or sent to an alternate email address?

Thanks!

To shorten the wait

For what it's worth, you are listed as the latest member of 68kmla (as of a couple of hours ago). Why not try to log in with the password that you 'registered'? That's all that the activation email gets you to do.

An admin can activate the acc

An admin can activate the account for you. If this were the PPCMLA, all you would have to do is read the "Read Me: Who do I contact for help?" to get my contact info... Wink

Peace,
Drew

I can talk to tom and let him know

Mr Goodbytes had the same problem. Are you using Hotmail?

Tom says that the email registration hasn't been working right. But since I am a member of the forum, I can give him the heads up if you want? what's your username on it?

Still Waiting / Google Cache to Restore Posts?

de, trying my login and password was one of the first things I attempted last night. No go. I just now tried it again, but it still doesn't work. I get the following error:

"You have specified an incorrect or inactive username, or an invalid password."

(And no, I did not forget what password I used!)

So it's clear that something needs to be activated or an admin needs to add me. But it's so silly I cannot reinitiate the activation email a second time manually. Goodness knows I am not the lone soul on this planet whose ever had a SPAM filter zap an activation email! Of course, I could just open a new account under another login name, but I'd rather not do that.

Sadly, no admin has contacted me yet. I guess they don't check email on the weekends? A kind soul PM'd me an admin's email address though and I've tried that. Hopefully, I can get a reply soon and get back up and running. I've waited for weeks for that site to get back up only now to be forced to play the waiting game yet again!

Anyway, I've been reading through some of the new posts on 68kMLA, in the Welcome Back thread. I see that 003, like me, greatly mourns the loss of so many helpful posts. The only logical thing I can think of to restore some of these lost posts is for us too Google them up and repost them from the cache. For example, here's a thread I pulled from Google's cache that I took part in: Cached Thread

(Sorry, I've tried everything to make that a clickable link, but to no avail.)

URL changed to clickable link. ~BDub

Re: I can talk to tom and let him know

Tom says that the email registration hasn't been working right.

It's not that it hasn't been working right... more just the fact that spam filters seem to really like eating the emails. Yahoo and Hotmail seem to be the worst for it, but I'm guessing other spam filters are rejecting them too. There's not really much we can do about that though!

Also, the activation email does more than just ask you to log in with your user name and password... before you can do that, you have to click a link which verifies that you have got the email, and hence that it's a real email address.

JDW: I've activated your account manually. You should be able to log in now. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you... I've just got in. I do check my email over the weekend though!

Edit: For now, I've added the admin email address to that page so that people can contact us if they're having a problem without having to search for it.

Having had but one ISP that provides, inter alia, Inbox, Spambox and Trashbox, all of which are accessible through a Webmail facility, I have to ask whether this is not a universal facility? My Rule settings in Mail have always been more effective than my ISP's spam filter(s), so I also look regularly at my web Spambox for false positives.
