Pirating The Goonies

My favorite game for the Apple II was The Goonies by Datasoft, Inc. I have an original disk (not cracked) of the game, and I've been trying to copy the damn thing for some time now. I set up a small web page describing the dilemma:

http://www.macintricks.com/gooniespirate/index.html

While I'm pretty familiar with many of the Apple II disk copying utilities out there (Copy II Plus, Locksmith, Saltine's Super Trans-Copy), I'm not very familiar with nibble editing or general cracking/pirating. I seriously want to be able to create some kind of disk image an emulator can run... or at the very least, a copy on another 5.25" disk that WORKS. Please give me some ideas because I'm all out!

Piracy is not condoned here.

... and discussing it is a very quick way to get yourself banned.

If you're just looking to play the game and avoid piracy/cracks, some one did do a new version of the MSX release for Mac OS X.

As long as he owns an original licensed copy, it isn't piracy, is it?

It Was A Pun

Actually, "pirating" isn't what I mean. It was a play on words... you know... Goonies was about a pirate? Never mind.

My intentions are to simply be able to archive this program for my own use.

Re: It Was A Pun

Goonies was indeed about a pirate (or more exactly about a pirate's treasure); and his name was One Eyed Willie.

For more on the movie, click here.

The Apple II Goonies game was a really neat game. It took quite some time to beat, as there was all sorts of puzzles and tricks to solve. What was great was that the game was faithful to the movie and each level was inspired from a memorable scene of the storyline. All in all, an all-time favorite of mine and definitely one of better programmed software for the Apple II. Pretty sure everyone here will recognize the game's title screen :

The Apple II version was truly unique, so play it if you can. Otherwise you can try other versions, like the Brain Games remake of this 8 bit classic. Click here.

Well, like Cyndi Lauper said -

It's good, it's good enough
It's good enough for me
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah...

Problem Solved!

Actually, while scanning various archives, I found a copy of this game that wasn't obviously cracked (that is, some loser didn't smear his "pirate" logo all over the title page). That's ultimately what I wanted. Thanks for your comments, however. You may close this discussion.
