Clouor flickering on iMac

I recently - yesterday - purchased a second hand iMac - lime green - in great condition or so I thought the screen tends to flicker and change colour from grey to purple to blue not in a specific order or at any specific time - if I tilt the monitor or knock it slightly it will go back to normal - does anyone know if this is a cable / dust problem inside the machine and if it’s easy to fix?

Also are the iMac keyboards easy to take apart to clean - it has a bit of dust in it

Thanks
Mark!

oh shit. Thats the problem I

oh shit. Thats the problem I had, they have to replace the PSU for it to semi work again. Then they wound up replacing the logic board, cd-rw (cuase it eats cds), and the monitor neck. Then they (with TONS of ARGUING AND YELLING AND CUSSING on my part) gave me a new imac flat panel. Your screwed. Youd better just use an external. Or if you hit it firmly the color will be normal for a while.

Imac keyboards are very easy,

Imac keyboards are very easy, you just have to beware that thees a warranty sticker or something you must puncture to get one screw out.

Its the flyback transformer a

Its the flyback transformer and or the analog board is falty. No need to really worry. Rip it apart, do the atx mod. Stick it in a pc case and use an external pc / apple monitor.

Or, leave it in the iMac case, and run it with an external monitor by plugging in the new monitor into the plug the old one went into.

Simple
