Clamshell iBook: My screen is broken, but my computer won't start. Advice?

I was at school, and I dropped my iBook. The screen is broken, but I could still use it because, as you may know, this laptop has a video port. All the I needed to do was plug it in to my TV, and voila! it was fine, so I turned it off to charge. The next day I need to work on some english and it won't start. I tried hooking up the power supply, removing the battery and putting it back, holding multiple keys (C and shift and others) to try and get an emergency restart. Nothing works, so is there anything I can do to get it to start, even just to get the hard drive up and running to remove my school data?

If your Clamshell is one of t

If your Clamshell is one of the latter ones with a FireWire port, try holding down the T key as you start up. You should get a blue screen with a yellow FireWire symbol. If this happens then you can connect this to another Mac with a FireWire cable and move your data off the drive.

If you don't have FireWire, put (if it will let you) a Mac OS install disk and hold down C as it starts. If this doesn't work, then something like the internal power connector might be broken.

Good luck
