I've just had a conversation with a friend about his Q840av - which sounds quite quite different to mine, while still being an 840av.
For starters, the motherboard in mine looks like this:

and there's another link to one similar (but not quite the same) at
http://www.gla.ac.uk/~gwm1h/memory/modulars/q840av.html
Now the difference comes with my friend's one, which has the 68040 and some of the other components up on a daughterboard running parallel to the motherboard, has quite a few more components packed onto the motherboard (mine is bare in comparison) and also has a -68040 PDS slot- (no connector soldered in, but the number of pins and spacing matches one) above the 3 NuBus slots. The position of RAM and VRAM is different to mine as well. and the battery is in a different place.
Anyone else know of revisions of 840av's that differ so much? It's got me curious =).

I'd like to see a picture of that weird motherboard...I'm thinking that it might be a prototype.

Are you sure it's really an 840AV and not a QuadDoubled 800 in an 840av case?
<<>>
yeah - it has the other 840av hardware onboard - such as the dav slot/DSP
