Appel Combo Drive (Tibook) and DVD-R question

In my Titanium Powerbook I have an Apple Combo Drive (MATSHITACD-RW CW-8121). I have googled but seem to be getting conflicting answers on whether this drive can read a "DVD-R" burned disk?

Has anyone here used DVD-R to burn a disc and than get it mounted on their desktop with a MATSHITACD-RW CW-8121 Combo Drive?

Thanks.

P.S. Staples DVD-R Media

-R but maybe not +R

From my experience, it's more likely to read a DVD-R than a DVD+R. But with some combos I've been able to read both. They're rather particular beasts.

Works fine on my iBook Dual U

Works fine on my iBook Dual USB with DVD (only) drive. Figures!

Anyone found a good source (affordable) for a Superdrive for the orginal titanium powerbook? Or know the part number?

I seem to remember being able

I seem to remember being able to read both -R and +R media when I had a combo drive TiBook for a while. In general, +R media is "supposed" to be more compatible with drives than -R media.
