Never before have I experienced a greater example of this kind of abuse. Today I posted to their feedback group, lemlists, a question as to why moderated spam posts are being permitted. A nanny responded to my question offlist and unprovoked with a very hostile message basically boiling down to "get a education and shutup". Obviously appauled by such representation by the nannies of LEM I forwarded the offlist response to the lemlists list asking if everyone truly thought such administration action was acceptable. The nanny responded to that by putting me on moderation status for that list. I then just recently checked on the other lem lists I subscribe to only to find the nanny banned me from all the major lists I subscribed to without explanation. I cannot believe there is such unchecked abuse of administrative powers at that community. Until such behavior is rectify I recommend boycotting the lem community.
Mods - please lock this thread; it's bad enough that this BS is all over lemlists, and now on 68kmla - please don't let it ruin our good time here!
I'm intrigued by your post in the now locked 68kmla thread. How am I "stretching the truth" as you say? I'm guessing the nannies employed you to defend their community, I've never met you before.
No one employed me or asked me to do anything. You're under the misimpression that anyone else finds this issue as important as you do.
Mods - please lock this thread. Thank you!
Then why are you on a mission to have these threads locked? Why even get involved if this is not a important issue to you?
Because we've had enough drama around here over the years.
You make some pretty big accusations without providing any evidence to illustrate your point. It's obvious that this issue is an emotional one for you, but please realize that blanketing the Internet with such accusations won't gain you any credibility (and will only make the folks at LEM feel more justified in their actions). Perhaps you should take a few days to cool down, and then reassess the issue?
Well, consider how you yourself would feel if a community population at large expressed that my posts were helpful. Yet the instant I "attack the nannies" by asking about their spam policies I am not only attacked unprovoked by one of the nannies offlist but put on moderation on the list where I questioned the nannies actions and silently banned without explanation on every other popular list within this community. I'm pretty confident you'd be pissed off by such arrogance too. Further consider that another established member, Christian whacker, received similar treatment by the nannies after once again questioning their moderation practices, except he did so on his own blog. This is a big problem, if the nannies will not explain what they're doing nor work with their community to ensure reasonable use of their powers. They do what they want, when they want, while completely disregarding what the community, which is what they're supposed to be serving and protecting, actually wants. The only reason why more people aren't speaking out is because they don't want to also receive the banhammer as me and Christian have received for doing so.
Musbach, you are under the misapprehension this sort of forum 'owes' something to its users. This is a private system run for and by its operators and as such is beholden only to its owners. If what you say here or there runs counter to their interests they are entirely within their rights to exclude you. They don't have to justify or explain anything, however mean or unreasonable it may seem to you.
'Free speech' in publishing only goes as far as the owner of the medium. Go build your own web site (or newspaper or radio station or whatever) and say anything you like. Otherwise, play by _their_ rules or go away.
Your town square is always a good place to get this sort of thing off your chest.
Having said all that, it doesn't seem to make business sense to chase away any significant portion of their visitors. Maybe they've decided you are not significant enough to worry about?

Yeah, I guess my numerous helpful replies, Christian whacker's, and those of several others who have privately informed me they have resorted to lurking because of similar experiences are all insignificant contributors to the community. It's only a matter of time until such behavior begins to shoot themselves in the foot.
And what "business sense"? They don't make any profit from these lists.
To ensure the sanctity of this matter, the Lost Chronicles of Sarnia are being updated.
A posting will go out to a to the 419-eaters, in accodance with the silent treaty of Samsonite, and hard copy will be sent to Blackburn Radio (not the AF user, but the actual station).
For any old enough to catch all that, you have my love! ;-D
Persecution complexes are so last century
Wow...you've posted this to at least five other boards as well as here.
OK, this thread is pretty much done.
