Where to buy spare MMU and IOU for IIe?

Hi,

Anyone knows where I can buy working IOU and MMU for NTSC IIe besides
Arcade Controls (out of stock) ?
Or anyone has made a CPLD MMU or IOU clones of the above for sale?

regards
lak

Since I posted the msg, I went to ebay and bought 3 apple IIe MBs
I've received 2 but the 3rd still awaiting posting??
No harm having some spare IOU and MMU if the price is right. I'm in
Singapore.
I've got a AE Ramworks III with 256K that I've no use... anyone want to trade.

hello tylak,
unless you don´t know a former dealer, that has that chips in his stock somewhere in the cellar it will become difficult to purchase such chips....
that´s also the reason that nobody should just dump a board to the trash if it´s not working... it´s instead recommended by changing that chips with a working board to find out which of that chips are O.K. and set them apart on the shelf for own reserve....such identified chips should be marked from which board they have been taken ( U.S. Version or European version and enhanced or not enhanced )from .... this is valid for the CPU, the MMU, the IOU and the HAL-chip and its besides also recommended for the RAM-chips and several rare sockerted chips like the 74S109 ( which is in the meantime hard to get...

Re: Where to buy spare MMU and IOU for IIe?

Thanks and Understood.
My '84 PAL 2e works after replacing the 65C02 and the original CD PROM
but would not display colours on my Samsung LCD TV / Monitor.
The NTSC boards that I've purchased works with colours and clear enough in 80 columns.
I'm trying to save on postage just for the 2 ASIC chips.
And yes the other ICs that you've mentioned are readily available and replaceable.
The HAL chip runs a little too warm so I replaced it with a PALCE.
The 75ohm 1/2 watt power resistor runs hot; Hopefully not stressing the 28 year old power supply

But I guess I'm covered for the next 30 years.

I would be reluctant to sell them, without knowing they work..

This last year, I have bought 7 Apple ][e - Enhanced Apple //e's.. One won't boot, one I haven't tried yet, One has Acid Damage on the Aux Slot ( leaking battery on Peripheral Card. ) and the other Four work great, except for the damaged Case on one of them. I also bought Two Enhanced Apple //e motherboards ( no Power Supply or Case ). I also have an Apple ][e my dad gave me that is just like my Original One I bought with him.

I can pull the IOU and MMU and test them in a Known Good, Working Unit and then you can decide from there..

I would be interested in a Ramworks III 256K.. I bought one in 1986 from AE, and still have the Disks and Documentation.. I am still looking for my Z80 Card I bought from them.. I did find my 4Mhz Zip Chip...

Re: Where to buy spare MMU and IOU for IIe?

Pls do the tests and let me know how much you want for them. PAL/NTSC not a problem.
My 3rd NTSC 2e MB is finally posted after I wrote to the seller twice (nicely)
but condition is unknown.
No man should own more than 3 Apple 2e in any lifetime.
I'm in a bidding war for a non-working apple II+ MB currently after losing twice.
Interesting web page by the way.

OK..

More than Three Apple ][e's?? How can you pass up a Deal!! I got 3 at once for $50.00 ( USD ) each, for a Total of $150.00 ( USD ) all of them work, One got a broken Case...

Let me Dig Out the "One that Won't Boot", and my "Hardware Test ][e". It might be a few days to get it done and tested...

I located in my Storage Unit, an Apple ][ and a ][+, that my Dad gave me 10 years ago...

Hi Marko,

Take your time and enjoy the holidays.
And yes it's painful to look at that broken Apple 2e of yours
but a little super glue may put humpty dumpty back together again
I'm sure.
That Platinum 2e on ebay sure looks good.....

I just need to clean my desk off, so I can set them up.. I think I am going to build a Monitor Shelf above all my Computers...

Actually, I think I will "ditch the case" altogether, like these Apple ][e's used for Final Carte Blanche assemblies going through burn-in testing.. I do have all the pieces of the case, but for testing it might be nice to not deal with the case.. Wink

I just found my eBay receipt for the two Apple //e Motherboard Only I purchased.. $20.00 ( USD ) each, plus shipping and they were Enhanced //e also... How can anyone live with Three Apple ][e's or less....

I might go for a Platinum //e at some point, but my First ][e, Rev B Motherboard, but the Lighter Key Caps and White Letter is my favorite ][e model..

I spent the 31st of DEC making a Monitor Stand.

Now I need to Remove the Broken Case from the "Smoke Test ][e" and then Dig the "Won't Boot ][e" out of the Box and test the MMU and IOU.... Plan on doing that in the next few minutes...

Re: Where to buy spare MMU and IOU for IIe?

Hope it turns out ok.

As for me, during the week off work, I lost the bid for the Apple II+ MB (with no video output) down to the last second.
Not sure what I'm gonna do with that 16K (shitty 4116s) language card I've won earlier.
(To console myself, I bought 2x Apple 2e MBs off Ebay, if they ever arrive. Condition unknown?)

Bought 3x R65C51 to 'upgrade' my 2 SSC cards.
- Did not work with the Apple Game Server until I added 2 capacitors to the crystal circuit on the SSC.

Bought 3x W65C816. Replaced the R65C02 with the 816 in my IIe according to CSA2 forum.
Worked only in 8-bit mode. Will need to add 74HCT245 to function in Native mode according to CSA2.

My disk card is assumed kaput with rusted IC leads. Need to repair with new Ebay acquired 28L22 proms.
Probably will get a modern SD/CFFA card when available.

Repaired some keys on my Base64A clone. - great 64K (8x 4164s) and 6x 8K eproms clone.

Forgot that I bought a Apple 2+ BAL500 eprom programmer 30 years ago.
Wonder if it still works. I hope the card's eprom hasn't lost its mind.

The MPF-II and Creative Cubic99 (The sound card maker 1st Apple 2+ clone computer) are next for a makeover.

Sadly, back to the daily grind until the weekend.

I spent the 31st of DEC making a Monitor Stand.

Now I need to Remove the Broken Case from the "Smoke Test ][e" and then Dig the "Won't Boot ][e" out of the Box and test the MMU and IOU.... Plan on doing that in the next few minutes...
BAD RAM !
speedyG
That is kind of what I was thinking... Based on other discussions going on here at AppleFritter..

Here is a CloseUp of the RAM Bank. ( FULL Size Here!! )

As you can see, "One of these Items, is not Like the Others, One of these Items, doesn't belong..." ( an Ode to Sesame Street )

After "Pondering this a Bit"... I took Stock of my other Apple ][e Systems, to see if there was a Better Candidate to "Strip for Parts"..

It seems I have 8 of them, and 2 additional Mother Boards.

Of the 8 Systems, all Boot, but this one, as well as this one also has a Couple Broken Keys and the Video Connector is Damaged.

One of the others has Acid Damage to the AUX Slot and the 64K memory card was damaged, and a replacement 64K Card won't work in the AUX Slot, but it is an Enhanced //e. One BIG ISSUE is the MMU is Solder Into the Mother Board..

I have One other system, with some Broken Keys, and many Mismatched Keys, but it Boots and runs fine, has a 64K RAM Card and an Apple Super Serial Card.

Other than the Broken Case on the "Smoke Test ][e", all the other 5 Systems work flawlessly ( so far )..

I think I am still going to Part this one out.. Make the "Acid Damaged //e" my "Smoke Test ][e", by Removing the Enhanced ROMs and the 65C02 and replacing them with the One from the current "Smoke Test ][e".

After all, I have 6.5 Working Apple ][e's, plus 2, Known Good, Enhanced Mother Boards. Plus my Apple ][ and the Apple ][+. How many 8 Bit Apples do I need???

I know... But I Don't Own a TARDIS... So I have to be practical... Wink

By taking parts out this one Apple ][e, I can fix the Keyboard on another and make an Enhanced //e of another.. And have an MMU and IOU to send to tylak.

Re: Where to buy spare MMU and IOU for IIe?

Wow!! I didn't realize that Apple had so many variations in the Apple ][e Hardware..

I finally got my Apple //e with Battery Acid damage, switched to the Base from the Case Damaged Apple ][e, and the MotherBoard from the Case Damaged Apple ][e switched to the Base and Case of the Battery Acid Dammaged Apple //e. Also, switching the CPU and ROMs..

This gives me a Smoke Test Apple ][e with 64K, Non Enhanced and AUX Slot damaged so no memory cards and No outer Case. And an Apple //e with 64K, Enhanced.

And, then pulled the MMU and the IOU out of the Apple //e that Won't Boot, and tried them in the Acid Damaged Apple ][e.. All is OK.. Testing for a few Days... Should be OK... Tylak, I sent you a PM....
