Add interlace video to Apple ///

One of the new features of the Apple III Plus was an interlaced video mode, controlled by a switch added to the outside of the case. Apparently, Apple offered this feature is an upgrade to existing Apple threes, but it's not clear what the upgrade consists of.

My question is: can this feature be easily added to an existing nonplus Apple III?

I believe so. I have an Apple /// (hopefully temporarily) with the kit not yet installed.

Is there anything in the kit except for the switch? Is there any way I could get a copy of whatever documents re the kit you might have?

I'll have to go by the storage this weekend and look. I was hoping to sell the /// this past week at KansasFest but ended up bringing it back.

Or you could sell it, or the kit, to me, depending on the price, model, condition, etc.

Re: Add interlace video to Apple ///

According to Mike Maginnis (Drop III Inches Podcast), the machine is really great condition, clean and well taken care of. It has a 5MB ProFile, with some extra cards (ProFile controller, Parallel) and several Apple software books (Pascal, Business BASIC). It was taken apart and thoroughly inspected during KansasFest. There are also 4 Apple /// external drives and some adapter cables.

Sans monitor, it's a lot to ship. I'm in the Kansas City area more or less.

I'll take some pics and share them here.

Edit: there are also 2 extra Apple /// keyboards and their covers - they appear new or like new (in plastic). One is missing the plastic cover over its power light.

Re: Add interlace video to Apple ///

The one Apple /// I have now I got a few months ago, an absolutely immaculate NOS unit that had been sitting in an Apple engineer's garage since 1984 or so. I posted some photos here at the time. Fwiw, I paid $1,500 for the 256K Apple ///, 1 external drive, and 1 Monitor ///, all NIB.

Right now I'm running it with BOS and a CFFA3000. Very nice for Pascal development. I got a couple of Profiles from another ex-Apple guy, but damn, they're loud!

I would like to have another unit for backup, testing, etc. Which revision is yours, and how much memory? I await the photos...

Here is the thread with the photos of my current machine
