Apple iic not formatting or duplicating disks

I recently purchased Goldstar  M-2D  5.25 floppies to format and make duplicates of my ProDOS System Utilities disk that came with the Apple iic. When I attempted to format the Goldstar blank disk, I received this message on the screen ( see second pic). Then when I was attempting to duplicate the Apple Utilities Disk, I received this message on the screen ( see first pic). I tried different blank Goldstar floppies, but they all ended up with the same result. Are these Goldstar disks bad or is there another issue?

The Apple iic Utilities disk appears to be working fine.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It is breaking to the monitor. Either the disc controller is damaged, or the system has bad RAM. Fisrt two things to suspect.

I ran a RAM test and floppy drive all checks out. It has to be something else.

Have you tried another

Have you tried another utility like Copy II+ to format / copy your disks?  It probably works better than the IIc Utilities anyway.

Perhaps the utilities disk you're using is corrupt?

Have you checked your disk drive's read/write head's cleanliness?

No - where would I get a Cpoy II plus program disk? The heads were cleaned.

 Thanks

Have you got a serial cable

Why are you buying Copy II+ from an eBay seller?

A far better investment purchase would be to buy a serial cable, null modem adapter and a USB-Serial adapter.

Then make yourself an ADTPro disk.

In fact ADTPro can format disks and might be a good way to ensure that your internal disk drive is functional.

Also, having an external disk drive is a handy thing to have also.

You could use ADTPro to create your own Copy II+ disk from image files on Asimov.

Any version of Copy II+ after v8 is just fine.

Ugh, no. no.  If you are

Ugh, no. no.

If you are going to do this, use ADT Pro to make a ProDOS 2.4.2 master. This includes Copy ][+.

I am happy to sell a cheap master disk if you cannot use ADT Pro.

Sorry for overlooking break to monitor on bad disk data. That can happen, but it has happened to me so rarely that I do not tend to expect it. Out of hundreds of diskettes, only one or two of mine have ever done that.
