"Essential" documentation recommendations

What do you consider "essential" documentation to pick up?  I'm thinking stuff like User Guide for whatever system (IIe Platinum, in my case), but what other guides, books, etc are out there that you'd recommend for someone starting from zero?

Thanks

"Essential" in terms of doing what? learning what?

It all depends on how deep you want to gain understanding and knowledge on this amazing 8-bit computer.

For the IIe, I'd recommend the following for general use with an ability to find your own answers:

1.  Applesoft BASIC Programmer's Reference Manual - Vol 1 & 2

2.  Apple II Reference Manual for IIe Only

3.  Apple II - The DOS Manual

4.  Apple II - The ProDOS Manual

5.  Beneath Apple DOS

6. Beneath Apple ProDOS

7. 80-column Memory Expansion board documentation from matching vendor
